Bertie
Bertie is an actor, adventurer and decorated military veteran whose natural enthusiasm has occasionally outpaced his common sense. The son of a proud Standard Poodle father and an affectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mother, he inherited intelligence, unwavering loyalty and an optimism that has landed him in more than a few difficult situations.
Born and raised in the rolling countryside of Wiltshire, Bertie enjoyed a happy puppyhood exploring fields, woods and streams. His formal education was brief and, by his own admission, "not especially memorable." Possessing a strong sense of duty and a taste for adventure, he enlisted in the British Army as a young dog and served with distinction on operations in the Middle East, earning a reputation for courage, determination and an uncanny ability to remain cheerful under pressure.
After leaving military service, Bertie's life took an unexpected turn. Whilst enjoying a quiet pint with an old Army friend in a Belgravia pub, he was persuaded to try his paw at film extra work. Although he initially blended into the background, his expressive face and natural comic timing soon caught the attention of acclaimed director Marcus Piddle, who offered him a succession of speaking roles. Before long, Bertie had established himself as one of Britain's most recognisable canine actors.
Today, Bertie lives a quieter life in the English countryside but spends much of the year filming alongside his long-time friend and co-star, Marley. On screen, the pair have portrayed heroes in everything from First World War adventures — including the daring rescue of the legendary Golden Egg of Aurelion — to science fiction epics, detective mysteries and globe-trotting thrillers. Away from the cameras, however, they seem equally adept at stumbling into adventures of their own, often discovering that reality can be every bit as exciting as the scripts they perform.
Despite his impressive military record and successful acting career, Bertie remains delightfully modest. Endearingly overconfident, he approaches every new challenge with boundless enthusiasm, only occasionally realising that he may have underestimated the situation. Fortunately, Marley is usually only a few steps behind, ready to rescue both the mission and, from time to time, Bertie himself.
